4th of July

So, yesterday was the 4th of July! What did everyone do?! I really missed being out and about with the family! I missed Isaiah and Caleb being home for the celebration...
Well, my day consisted of A LOT of rain! I think it was the first time that I spent the 4th of July inside. It was fine though. Some people came over to the King's for an inside bbq and we hung out and played texas hold 'em. It was fun! Then everyone went to the movies/mall. We were supposed to go to this big shabang at a park... there was supposed to be a carnival and fireworks but it all got cancelled. As the day passed we found out about a place in downtown Austin that was putting off fireworks, so I went to that! The sunset was beautiful! Well, anyway the show was great! All in all it was a good day!

So, even though I have the day off... I still volunteer for the high school on thursday nights, which has been a lot of fun! It's a night that is run by all the high school and junior high interns. They do a very good job! Two weeks ago Josh shared his testiomony and got to talk a little bit about Kyle which was awesome... yet emotional. Ever since I've been down here I've had a lot of opportunity to use what happened to Kyle/me to help out some people. I talk to a girl from work about it atleast once a week. I've also had a chance to talk to one of my kids about it and it has really helped our relationship grow closer!
About my job...
Well, I work in inner city East Austin! Inner city ministry is a different world, that's for sure! I mentor 3 kids... well, one just stopped coming and two older girls (age 15) might start coming regularly and I am going to take them too. The daily schedule pretty much looks like this...
Arrive at 12
prepare and setup 12-1
prayer time/meeting (kids arrive) 1-1:30
activity 1:30-2:30
Snack 2:30-3
Bible study 3-3:30
Worship 3:30- 4
Free time 4-4:30
kids go home/clean up 4:30-5
meeting with interns/ride home 5-6
I usually don't get home until about 5:30/6 depending on traffic and on how long our meetings are. I love it though! It has been such an eye opener to me. God has shown me a lot since I've been here and I can't wait for what else he is going to show!

Like I said, I'll try to keep this updated as much as possible...
I love and miss every one of you!
In His Grip,
Cori Lynn
